An Instagram story published by blogger Natalia Salmela last weekend received a huge amount of comments about experiences of hostile traditions and activities in tech student culture. AYY's goal is to eradicate all discriminatory activities and traditions from the Aalto community.
Advance booking of facilities for the spring of 2021
AYY’s associations have the right to book rental saunas, event venues and meeting rooms in advance. In this booking round, you can book facilities for the period 18 Jan 2021−8 Aug 2021.
Student health care reforms 2021 - digital services are expanding and the health care fee must be paid to Kela
From the beginning of 2021, the health care fee will be paid to Kela on your own initiative through the electronic services. In connection with the reform, the service network and digital doctor services will also expand.
Aalto University Student Union Board elected for the year 2021
At its meeting on Thursday, 26 Nov 2020, the Representative Council of Aalto University Student Union elected the AYY Board for the year 2021. The Board was elected in accordance with the proposal of the Former of the Board, Milja Leinonen. The meeting also elected Noora Torpo and Petra Ekroos as Vice Chairs of the Representative Council.

At AYY, residents have many ways to influence their own living comfort and develop housing. Active residents are chosen at house meetings in November and December.
AYY elected the Chair of the Representative Council for 2021 and the former of the Board
Aalto University Student Union’s Representative Council elected the Chair of the Representative Council and the former of the Board for 2021 at its meeting held on Thursday, 5 Nov 2020. Next year, Joonas Nurmi will chair the Representative Council and Milja Leinonen will form the Board.

The student media has played a role in the building of the Aalto community. However, now that AYY has existed for 10 years, the Representative Council decided to discontinue the student media on the basis of a proposal from the Board – how did we end up to this situation?
Access codes available for many of AYY’s rental facilities, accessibility updates and saunas heated by users
Instead of keys, many facilities can be accessed with access codes and there is more information on accessibility on the website. The saunas can be heated at a time that suits you.
What if overperforming is muting your life?
20% of Aalto’s students are at risk of burnout (AllWell 2020) and even more have difficulties with coping on a smaller scale. AYY's board member Tua Videman has an impression that quite a few of us strive for one hundred per cent performance and try to take care of everything they have promised at the cost of their own well-being.
