A-type student residence permit - could Finland do better?
Since April 2022, International students have been able to apply for a visa tied to the entire length of their studies. No more yearly juggling of finances and applications! AYY believes we need to achieve equality between different groups of students. Have we achieved that? In this blog, we discuss the new A-type student residence permit and the advocacy work that paved the way for it. We interviewed student union representatives from 2018-2022 and asked them the following questions. How did the new residence permit come to be? What does it look like now, and what still needs to be done? What might future international students think of it?
