Jämeräntaival 1 is one of the few residential buildings designed by Alvar Aalto in the Teekkari Village. The exterior of the building is made of red brick typical of Aalto’s style, but conceals interesting architectonic solutions, such as the wonderfully geometric staircases. Jämeräntaival 1’s floor plans are rather unique and suit all kinds of resident: Large, shared apartments with rooms for 10-12 residents allow for larger roommate communities, although each room has its own bathroom and fridge to ensure privacy and peace. The shared apartments are rather large with private bathrooms, and are in demand throughout the year. For many students at Aalto, a room in a shared apartment at Jämeräntaival 1 is their very first own home
