The Fund for the Promotion of Teekkari Operations was established in 2006 as part of the Student Union of the Helsinki University of Technology (TKY). The Fund’s initial capital was donated by the Association for the Promotion of Teekkari Operations (TTEY). The first application round took place in the spring of 2007, followed by another in the autumn of the same year. Since 2008, it has been possible to apply for grants from the fund in application rounds organised three times a year. In 2010, an experimental lighter application round was introduced, allowing for the application of small grants (up to €200) over a month-long period with a freely formatted application, which was processed promptly.
At the beginning of 2010, the entire TTE Fund became a part of Aalto University Student Union (AYY). Since then, all AYY members, as well as associations and communities within AYY, have been eligible to apply for grants from the Fund. The purpose of the Fund is to support the goals of AYY members and to foster and sustain active engagement in technological, scientific, financial, artistic, and societal issues, as well as cultural activities through the allocation of grants.
On 1 Jan 2010, TKY merged into Aalto University Student Union (AYY) together with the Student Union of the Helsinki School of Economics (KY) and the Student Union of the University of Art and Design Helsinki (TOKYO) at the same time as the three universities merged into Aalto University. TTEY also changed its name in the spring of 2010. Nowadays, TTEY is known as PTK ry, which, in addition to TTE Fund appointments, is responsible for awarding several teekkari acknowledgements and maintaining and cherishing a few Teekkari traditions.
