artmark. is a student association formed by the ATCM (Master’s Degree Programme in Art Theory, Criticism and Management) students. The programme involves students from two universities: Aalto University’s School of Economics and University of Helsinki. Our members are a diverse group of students from different disciplines coming from North America to Asia. Since its establishment, artmark. has been active and brought students together at meetings, conferences and participating in various arts and cultural events. Pro-activity in the arts sector is vital, and artmark. recognises this need in its operations. Finding connections and their creation between the worlds of art world and economy are the main objectives and points of interest of artmark. and its members.
We actively attend events from different fields of art by visiting museums and galleries, participating in performances of music, dance, film and theatre. Since the group has interest in a wide variety of art forms, one of our attempts is to achieve widespread understanding of the activities and actors in the field in Finland as well as in international level. We participate in seminars, lectures and discussion sessions arranged by various organisations. As a group we keep each other up to date about interesting events, news and events from around the world, which are further discussed in our blog, and we will continue to pay very special attention to these activities. All our members are free to write their experiences of, for example, the art world, school or work.
As an actor between two different but inseparable worlds – art and business – artmark. seeks to cooperate closely with various arts organisations. We actively connect with the existing contacts of our group, and we are constantly creating new ones. Excursions to relevant locations, such as the Cultural Capitals are made, and the goal is also to visit different arts institutions and get acquainted with their activities.
Our members support to each other has played a central role in the ATCM programme from the beginning. artmark. offers its members a conversation forum and helps students to create vital relationships within the art world. We encourage each other to better outcomes and we are a key part of the operation of the ATCM programme. artmark. works as a trustee of its members, the ATCM students, by representing the students’ interests and participating in the management of the programme. In addition, we take our own initiative, working to ensure that we get our voice heard by providing regular feedback of the ATCM and providing ideas for the future developments of the programme.
